Road Trip Part 2-MT Vernon and Shenandoah Valley

On Monday, May 21, 2012 Daniel and I headed to Mount Vernon to the George Washington Estate. 
I realized after this visit that we don't really learn who George Washington is in school. This made me want to take some time and read a book about him. 
On a clear day this would be an incredible view of the Potomac River. 

This is where George and his Wife Martha are buried. He died unexpectedly and in his will he asked that a new tomb be built because the other was not holding up well.  
George Washington wasn't just a great leader but he was also an amazing business man. After today I gained a higher respect for George Washington.  He reminded me a lot of Captain Moroni, from the Book of Mormon, when it came to his leadership. 
The gardens here were incredibly beautiful.

After Mt. Vernon Daniel and I headed to Virginia to his sister's house. We took the scenic route through Shenandoah Valley. 
It was a rainy and foggy day but the views were still pretty incredible. 








Daniel finally saw a bear in the wild. He was so excited when he saw the bear climbing up the hill. I hurried and stopped and took a picture and as the cars behind us were wondering why we were stopped I pointed to the side of the hill and they were also excited to see a bear in the wild. They all got their cameras out and started snapping pictures. 
It was a wonderful drive.
