Hammond Castle

Back in July I went to Hammond Castle with some friends. We did the candlelit tour of the castle. (To see more on the Hammond Castle look back a few months for my other post on the castle it has more exterior pictures)

Here is an old time organ that has been hooked up to an enormous sound system that can blow you away in this Chapel Hall.
This room was the room he had for his Wife this was her sitting room.
This Archway was brought from Italy if I remember right. So many pieces of the museum came from parts of Europe.
John Hammond use to get up in the morning and walk out of his room which is up on the right side and jump off the roof/balcony into the pool. The pool doesn't look it but is extremely deep.
This is a shop that was brought from another country in Europe.
Here is a bakery from Spain.
Side of the pool where the faces have water spueing out of their mouths.
Dinning Room
The ceiling
The view from the dinning room.
The library is a circular room with a domed ceiling which was designed so if he was standing on one side of the room he could hear conversations or talk to someone on the other side of the room.
I loved the big windows it was so pretty.
This was John and his wife's room.
Behind the pillow is a secret passage way that John has in each room so he could get to the guests room before they could and he would scare them when they would get to their room and turn on the lights or he would talk to them when it was still dark and scare them.
Guest room. In this room John would take the door knob and remove it from the door and it would blend in with the rest of the room and in order to open the room you had to press the correct flower on the wall.  From time to time he would change which flower opened the door so when people would return they wouldn't know where the button would be which would make it hard for them when they needed to go to the restroom.
I loved these I thought they were so pretty. I love the bright blue.
This is the servants stairwell. He made these stairs so they lean to the opposite side than usual so it would make people feel like they were falling down the stairs or make them stumble down them.
Art work his sister did.
John Hammond was the inventor of the push button radio and the remote control as well as many other patented inventions.
This was John's favorite place to sit and meditate and read. I don't know about you but I don't think a stone chair would be my favorite place to sit.
I thought the stairwell handrail was really cool that it was built into the wall like this. The first time we went down the stairs we didn't even notice it because it was just a part of the wall. But as we went up the stairs I noticed.
View of the ocean what a beautiful place to be able to see the beauties Heavenly Father has given us.
A little gazebo at a park down the road from the Castle.

It was a lot of fun to be able to go and tour the castle. I was able to see a piece of history here in the states that I thought was only in the European area. It was really neat to be able to learn about this man and the way in which he lived his life and the sense of  humor he had and all the fun he had. He seemed like he would have been a great man to know. He would actually live life at night so he could get more work done on his inventions and he would sleep through the day. His neighbors didn't like him much because he would play his music so loud at night that they could literally hear it for miles away and the neighbor that lived right next door was always angry with him for making so much noise at night.

Looks like a fun place to see but I sure wouldn't have wanted to stay there a few too many tricks up his sleeve for me!!
